Music and Light - Astrid Breuer Exhibition

7th - 25th March at Belconnen Arts Centre Foyer, 118 Emu Bank, Belconnen

Music is transcendent. It can touch you deep down where you live and can make you really happy, or it can bring a sense of melancholy. The challenge for photography is to communicate these transcendent moments.

This exhibition explores the wealth of talent in the Canberra music scene, capturing the spirit and enthusiasm ofthese gifted musicians as they take their audiences to new places.

Artists included in the exhibition are the Chris Harland Blues Band, Rafe Morris, The Dorothy-Jane Gosper Band and the Brass Knuckle Brass Band, amongst others.

I'm thrilled to announce that the boys and I will be performing at the 2012 Fiji International Jazz and Blues Festival in May.  Thanks to our supporters who have booked to come over and spend the weekend with us.

The boys and I have had some great gigs lately.  Our trip to the South Coast was so much fun, with 3 great gigs and exceptional hosts.  At Narooma Quarterdeck Baz was convinced that resident model, Clare, was staring at him with keen interest. He was quite taken with her grass skirt and wished he'd brought his lawn mower.  Even when we explained that she was a mannequin, he still tried to kiss her...

Another outstanding gig was at The Exchange Hotel in Newcastle. A standing ovation is always good for the ego. Thanks heaps to the fabulous folk of Newcastle for coming out to see us. We will be back :)

The boys and I had a lovely afternoon playing our songs at The Shed Sessions in Queanbeyan. I played a couple of songs on piano and acoustic guitar, Baz on his accordion and Paulo on acoustic bass. This is a really cool venue with a great live music vibe and very polite, appreciative audience.
